Samui Learning Centre for Special needs was founded in 2009 by its current chairman, Mrs. Dalin Ruangaisoon who was born and raised on Koh Samui. Dalin has a family of three children, two of whom have been diagnosed with slow learning disorders and Autism. Her children were not accepted at conventional educational schools. However she nevertheless tried her best to ensure that they received the care and support necessary for their development and to prevent further regression. In the beginning, having to travel to Saranrom Hospital (Surat Thani) and also as far as Bangkok, not an easy task with disabled children. It was at this point Dalin became inspired to establish a learning center for children with special needs like her own.
