Ithembelihle, meaning "Place of Good Hope", is an apt name for our school which was established at the initiative of educators. the educators identified a need to establish an institution which would cater for physically disabled learners during the turmoil of the early 90's. Over the years, the admissions expanded to include those learners with cerebral palsy and other medical conditions. Hence, there are a range of disabilities present at our school and these include muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, poliomyelitis, congenital amputation, phocomelia, arthrogryphosis, hydrocephalus etc.
