When Matt Cottle applied for a job at the supermarket bakery, his boss told him he could do nothing more than collect the stranded grocery carts. Cottle knew &#8211; \u201cIt\u2019s hard to find a job when you are autistic.\u201d After six years of pushing carts, Cottle already learned to do some baking.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During a culinary demonstration<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cottle fell in love with baking. He thought about joining a culinary school but was often rejected because of the problems arising from his autism. Cottle decided to enrol with the \u2018Southwest Autism Research and Resource Centre (SARRC) Vocational and Life Skills Academy Culinary Works\u2019 programme. He <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also took baking lessons from Chef Heather Netzloff, the owner of a bakery called <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rumpelstiltskin in Granola<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and attended the \u2018St. Mary\u2019s Food Bank Community Kitchen\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Matt Cottle now is an entrepreneur. He is the proud owner of \u2018Stuttering King Bakery\u2019 where he takes the pleasure of doling-out lots of brownies, scones and cookies for cafes and clients. \u201cIt\u2019s a work of art,\u201d Cottle said, \u201cI could see myself doing something like this.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>#IAmYou <\/strong><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not bad for a guy who some people thought could do nothing more than collect grocery carts.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Matt Cottle was diagnosed with \u2018high-functioning autism\u2019 at the age of 19.
